How were your holidays? Overwhelming? You’re not alone. Work, holidays, back-to-school – all merging together in a beautiful frenzy year after year. And then a lot of catching up on things that got neglected…
A big thank you to everyone who donated to our mini-fundraising drive. We are really honored by the generosity so many of you showed. And a big thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the holidays so special. You know who you are.
Oh! And we wanted to share this fascinating chart about transcending Jewish trauma. You might recognize some of the symptoms in yourself. I know I did. Admittedly, I do always think the worst is about to happen. Fortunately, I am easily distracted by the wonder of the world around us.

Sing-along and sound meditation

On Nov 16, we’ll meet for a sing-along and sound meditation led by our very own Maia Steinberg. Maia is a singer, composer, sound healer, interdisciplinary maker and community artist from Uruguay, living in the Netherlands. Some of you may have met her at Rosh Hashana or Yom Kippur.
Those who attended the first one in October absolutely loved it, so don’t miss it. It will be in Amsterdam.

Hannukah on the Rocks

It’s not too early to sign up for Chanoekah on the Rocks (yes, we believe in chaotic Xanukkah spellings). Signature cocktails and mocktails, dive bar vibe, the Café Oy Vey neon sign ready for action. It will be a rip-roaring good time. Every couple of weeks, we’ll have more details to share.
Deviant Yeshiva: Real Talk on Israel/Palestine

We have two more dates for the Deviant Yeshiva coming up! The readings aren’t finalized yet, but the dates are.
Join us on the 30th of November for Britain screws things up and on the 21st of December for 1948: Two names, same event, Independence/Nakba.

Deborah Feldman, author of Unorthodox, will be speaking at De Rode Hoed this coming Saturday, Nov 8th at 20.00. This will be followed by a panel featuring Oy Vey’s very own Lievnath Faber. The evening promises to be a fascinating one.
LJG offers Level 1 Dutch classes
From November 18th a new Dutch course will start in the LJG, Amsterdam. Level: A1; we’ll start with the past tenses in Dutch, speak about Dutch GP’s, bikes and Dutch birthdays… group size: max 10 persons.
