Dear readers,
Honestly you all, this has been a hard time for me. My heart has been through the wringer, and I am filled with grief. I am ready to say kaddish for the world we lost, the paths untaken, the peace unmade. It’s a good thing for me that Oy Vey is adding a regular Kaddish Club to the agenda.
One of the benefits of being a life-long pessimist, is that even as I grieve the world we lost, I dream of what can be. I believe wholeheartedly that we can repair this broken world we inherited. No effort is too small. Importantly, don’t forget to forget your perfect offering…
In the words of storyteller Shonaleigh’s bubbe:
“When the world is crying, it doesn’t need more tears. It needs a handkerchief.”

Singing together lights up our souls, which is just one reason why you should join us 2 may for Singing Shtetl. Don’t worry if you’ve been told that you can’t sing. You can. As my sister says: “Sing loud enough and everyone thinks you have a great voice.”
3 may, 14.00: Join us for our first Kaddish Club: a monthly gathering where we share the names of those we are grieving, where we are in our grief journey, sit with a little poetry or teaching, and recite the Kaddish together.

“Here is the purim of our loyal Moos aka Moshe-le aka Moshe Rabbeinu, who will soon be 13 dog years old, on his way to his 120th. Moos is a Labradoodle.”
What a wise face! We wouldn’t want to anger him with a golden calf…🐾
