Breaking up with Egypt. Part 3: The counting of the Omer – Moishe Pod Amsterdam

The counting of the Omer: a time for Mussar
\\ a virtual Jewish text study session //

From the first day of Pesach, we start counting the Omer, seven weeks until the festival of Shavuot. This time is seen as a time of personal introspection, of spiritual refinement so we can make ourselves ready to receive Torah. This is a time where traditionally, Jews study the Pirke Avot, the Ethical treatise of the Mishna. What can we learn from our fathers? In this session, we’ll read highlights of the wisdom condensed in this unique Talmudic text and reflect on how we can apply it to our lives.

Breaking-up with Egypt:
Finding meaning before, during and after the Seder
\\ a three part Jewish text study session //

There is more to Pesach than getting ready for Seder night. We call Pesach the festival of freedom. But going out of Egypt is just the beginning of a new journey. What does this journey look like? What does it mean to be free, and what happens after breaking up with the place of bondage? How can we create the tools for our own freedom today, and for tomorrow?

In this three-part Jewish Education series, through text study, discussion and sharing, we will follow a process of learning and reflection exploring what happens before, during and after Pesach.
