Oy Vey offers Jewish activities in the Netherlands. Join us 14 Sept in Amsterdam for Havdalah Reimagined.

About Havdalah

Havdalah is the Jewish ritual that separates Shabbat from the rest of the week. It’s a ceremony that celebrates our senses: we smell spices, light a multi-wick candle and enjoy the look of the flames reflected in our fingernails. There is music and prayer. In Havdalah Reimagined, we sing, meditate, and share space with each other.

You don’t have to know anything about Havdalah to join or think of yourself as religious. If you don’t know any other Jews, you will after joining us. And don’t worry if your father is Jewish or you converted or haven’t done anything Jewish in ages. You are welcome.

Havdalah gently brings us back into the every day world. During Havdalah Reimagined, led by Tali Gross and Lievnath Faber, we extend the space between Shabbat and the rest of the week a bit longer with music and reflections. Tali studies and teaches Kabala. She shares original music inspired by her Jewish practice. Lievnath is a rabbi-in-training who brings her knowledge of Jewish magic and meditation to the space.

Please join us. Enter the week more centered and relaxed.

Are you Jewish Enough for Havdalah?

Am I Jewish Enough? The answer is probably yes. I am not religious; I don't know any other Jews; I can't remember the last time I did something Jewish; I have a Jewish father or Jewish grandparent; I don't know anything about Havdalah; My specific concern is not on this list and I am super serious about it!!!! Mazel Tov! You're Jewish enough!
